The winds of change are a'blowin'!!!

Sounds like big changes (for the better) in the BRC/adidas running world. First of all, kudos to Ali, Cassie, Nicole and Kristen for their races at USA's, and another giant congrats to Tommy for his Olympic Trials qualifier (as a side note here, I asked him what he was going to do to celebrate his induction into the ranks of Olympic Trial-dom, his response was a spirited "I'm gonna F***in' TRAIN MY ASS OFF! It's going to be a HUGE party with me, myself, and my worn out shoes!" Great answer.) And best of luck to Adrian, Wendy, Ali and Tommy with their new coach--things are looking up! Excited to see what's next.

On another note, I had another rust buster (okay, my fourth or so one this year) at the Avery Brewing Company 4 on the 4th 4k up in Boulder last Monday. It went okay, I got third overall, ran a PR for 4k (for whatever that is worth...), won some beer (that I gave away, I have never been and will likely never be that popular in Boulder again), and it was a swell time. I thought I'd be a bit faster considering the substantially higher volume I've been doing for the last 5 weeks, but I'll take what I can get! Next up? Either the Classic 10k or a 5k up in Boulder the Thursday prior to the Classic. Not sure right now.

I also had my first official workout with the Boulder Express group yesterday. I have just been doing the same workouts as they have been doing up until now, but doing them on my own here given that I could rarely get up to Boulder for their bi-weekly sessions. It was awesome! I completely forgot what it is like to train with a big group, and I while I was initially really nervous and constantly second-guessing my decision to join and to move up there, I am soooooooo excited to get there now and get going. The team is GREAT, the atmosphere is fantastic, and I am SO pumped!!! I didn't even realize how blah I had gotten about training up till now. And how although I love training and competing, a lot of things have sort of felt forced in a way for a while now and I sometimes felt as though I was always chasing the "old me" and that I was really just trying to convince myself that I still had "it" even though "it" didn't seem to be there anymore. That probably makes no sense. Headcase much? But no matter, after yesterday's session on the CU xc course, even though it kicked my ass, it was like "Oh, now I remember!!!". The workout (Lee's workouts always appear tame on paper...then you do them...) was killer, there were plenty of people to run with, and it takes things to a whole other level when you are pushing and being pushed by others whom you would like to see succeed as much as they want you to succeed. Whole different world. Although it is somewhat disconcerting when you are dying like a dog on the last couple of reps and Troop is trotting along beside you chatting away as though he's jogging in the park. Whew.

That's all I got for now, till next time, happy trails!
